LABORATORY FOR COMPUTATIONAL PHYSICS (Lab CMP)

1. INTRODUCTION

The Laboratory for Computational Physics (Lab CMP) was established in 2022 as a research unit of  Institute for Computational Science and Artificial Intelligence, Van Lang University. Lab CMP focuses on the development and application of computational methods to study physical systems in a wide range of fields, including condensed matter physics, and material sciences. The laboratory is typically composed of physicists, mathematicians, and computer scientists who work together to develop and apply computational techniques to understand the behavior of complex physical systems.

Lab CMP conducts research in a variety of areas, including the development of new numerical algorithms, 2D Materials, Density Functional Theory, Semiconductors, Molecular Dynamics and Interatomic Potentials. The laboratory’s research aims to deepen our understanding of the fundamental laws of nature, as well as to develop innovative solutions to practical challenges in complex physical systems.

Overall, the Laboratory for Computational Physics plays an important role in advancing our understanding of the physical world by developing and applying advanced computational methods to study complex physical systems. The laboratory’s research aims to deepen our understanding of the fundamental laws of nature, as well as to develop innovative solutions to practical challenges in various fields.

2. MISSION AND VISION

Mission of the Laboratory for Computational Physics is to conduct topical research in computational physics, with a focus on developing and applying advanced computational methods to solve practical problems in physcis and science. The laboratory aims to collaborate with industry, government, and academic partners to identify key challenges in various fields and develop innovative solutions that have a significant impact on society.

Vision: To become a renowned research laboratory that leads the way in the development and application of computational physics techniques, and to address some of the most challenging and pressing problems in physics, including the study of complex systems, the simulation of physical phenomena at different scales, and the design of new materials and technologies.
